What to Pack For Your European River Cruise
As the excitement for your journey builds, so does the temptation to overpack. After all, the comforts of home should follow you wherever you roam. But smart packing is the secret to a smoother trip — both coming and going. In fact, less is more when it comes to avoiding the hassle of hauling around heavy luggage. Want to know the essentials for a carefree getaway? We've got you covered right here:
Your ID or passport is, of course, the most important item. Keep them close at hand - easily accessible to you, but not to others. All travel-related documents should also be safely packed, like your flight or train tickets and any medical prescriptions. Don’t forget your credit card! It’s a good idea to make copies of your important documents and store them separately in your luggage for extra peace of mind.
Visualize your daily routine and make a list of everything you'll need from morning till night—everything from sunglasses and sunscreen to hand cream and your phone.
This covers items such as your toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, comb or hairbrush, razor, cosmetics, hand sanitizer, and tissues.
The easiest way to capture those unforgettable moments is with your smartphone. If you prefer using a dedicated camera, don't forget to bring some extra memory cards. There's so much to see on your journey!
Don’t forget your glasses or contact lenses — those essentials you can’t easily replace on the go.
If you need prescription medications, make sure to pack an adequate supply. Also consider bringing any supplements, vitamins, remedies for stomach issues, aspirin, or antiseptic creams you might need during your trip.
Enjoying your favorite tunes while on the go is a must-have experience. So, don’t forget your headphones. For our excursions, however, you won’t need to bring your own—our Quietvox audio system, complete with headphones, will be provided for your convenience.
Make sure to pack a charger and power cables for all your electronic devices. You might also need a converter or adapter. On our ships, all outlets adhere to the European standard—220 volts with a 2-pin plug. Additionally, you can often charge your devices directly via USB ports available in your cabin.
Your Wardrobe: Effortlessly Ready for Anything
Stay prepared for any weather
Summer
European summers are famously unpredictable — sunny and warm one day, cool and rainy the next. Pack versatile, breathable clothing that’s easy to layer. A light sweater or hoodie can quickly transform your favorite summer dress or short-sleeved shirt into the perfect outfit for cooler moments. Don’t forget a rain jacket and a stylish hat to keep you comfortable, no matter what surprises the weather has in store.

Spring & Autumn
Spring and autumn bring plenty of weather surprises, so be sure to pack a raincoat and a warm sweater. Leave the umbrella behind — one will be waiting for you on board, ensuring you're covered for those unexpected rain showers without the hassle of packing one yourself.
Winter
Winter cruises can bring freezing temperatures, but the magic of the season is worth stepping outside. While enjoying the warmth onboard, bundle up with a stylish hat, scarf, and winter coat. Don’t forget gloves and sturdy boots to stay warm and comfortable as you explore the crisp, frosty outdoors.

Dresscode
Effortless Elegance Onboard
Set sail with AMADEUS in style by packing versatile pieces that effortlessly blend together. Stick to a streamlined color palette to minimize your wardrobe while choosing wrinkle-resistant, easy-care fabrics like cotton or polyester. There’s no strict dress code on board, but many guests opt for chic casual outfits for evening activities. And when the grand Captain’s Gala Dinner rolls around, it’s your chance to dazzle in your finest attire, making a memorable impression from head to toe.
