EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES AND PROTECTING NATURE
AMADEUS Smile Projects
At AMADEUS, our journeys are about more than traversing rivers and enjoying stunning landscapes; they’re about forging meaningful connections with the environments we explore and the communities we encounter. With this in mind, we are thrilled to launch the AMADEUS Smile Projects, our new charity initiative dedicated to giving back to the world that enriches our travels. This program is built around two core themes that resonate deeply with us: River Habitat Conservation and European Cultural Heritage. Through the AMADEUS Smiles Projects, we aim to create a tangible, positive impact by supporting vital conservation and cultural preservation efforts. By aligning our charitable initiatives with these causes, we seek to ensure that the natural beauty and rich traditions of the regions we explore are preserved for future generations.
Whether we’re protecting delicate ecosystems or nurturing Europe’s cultural treasures, our mission is clear: to leave a lasting legacy that embodies the spirit of our voyages. We invite you to join us in making a difference through the AMADEUS Smiles Projects. Together, we can chart a course towards a sustainable and culturally enriched future, leaving behind a legacy of care, compassion, and conservation.

Rewilding Europe
We are proud to support the resurgence of the Dalmatian Pelican along the Black-Sea Mediterranean Flyway, one of Europe’s most iconic and endangered bird species. In partnership with Rewilding Europe, this initiative positions the Dalmatian Pelican as a symbol of healthy wetlands. By improving habitats, reducing powerline collisions, enhancing nesting sites in Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine, and engaging local communities, we are helping to revitalize biodiverse wetlands. Together, we are restoring the natural balance of these landscapes, with the Dalmatian Pelican at the forefront of this recovery effort.

Kopački Rit
At the confluence of the Danube and Drava rivers unfolds an impressive mosaic of water and land that harbors an overwhelming diversity of species: Kopački Rit. Our support focuses on sustainable forest management, particularly on replacing non-native species with native trees such as Black Poplar (Populus nigra) and White Willow (Salix alba). This initiative replaces the Euro-American poplar in the Podunavlje canal system and contributes to preserving ecological corridors. In doing so, we maintain the landscape’s structure and improve the biological balance of this valuable protected area.

Lepenski Vir
Lepenski Vir, located along the Danube River in Serbia, is one of Europe's most significant archaeological sites, dating back to 9500-5500 BC. Renowned for its distinctive trapezoidal houses and remarkable stone sculptures, the site offers a unique glimpse into early human settlements. In addition to adding Lepenski Vir to our onshore visit itinerary, we are proud to make a donation aimed at supporting the site's long-term sustainability. Our contribution will specifically address energy efficiency challenges, helping to create better conditions for visitors while preserving this invaluable cultural heritage.
