Homemade German Glühwein

Ingredients

1 liter
150gred wine
sugar4 cubes white or brown sugar
1 stick cinnamon
10 pieces whole cloves
1 untreated organic orange
1 untreated organic lemon

Instructions

  • Gently warm wine in a big pot on low or medium heat (avoid boiling), add sugar, juice of a fresh orange and a lemon. 
  • Scrape the peel of the orange and the lemon with the sugar cubes. 
  • Put the cloves in a tea strainer -so you can remove more easily later - and put it into the pot. 
  • Add orange and lemon peel and the cinnamon stick. 
  • Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat. 
  • Stir occasionally to make sure that the sugar dissolves completely. 
  • Let the mulled wine simmer for a few minutes, then remove the cloves and cinnamon. 
  • Pour the wine in a nice cup and decorate it using your creativity (for example with orange or lemon slices and cinnamon sticks).
