The new AMADEUS Amara aims to impress the travel market with its technical innovations and high environmental standards, while offering 164 guests even more space on the river. The Austrian cruise line Lüftner Cruises, with decades of experience in developing modern river cruise ships, has collaborated with an expert team to create numerous groundbreaking solutions for this new three-deck ship. Notably, the combination of lightweight construction and an innovative stabilization system allows for an impressively shallow draft of only 1.3m / 4.3 ft in this category of ships. This reduced water resistance not only lowers fuel consumption but also ensures reliable operation, even in fluctuating water levels.
Another highlight is the state-of-the-art steering system, which automatically adjusts to currents, water levels, ship traffic, wind speeds, and even wave conditions. This maximizes propulsion efficiency, reduces emissions, and minimizes vibrations on board. Additionally, solar energy is harnessed for electricity generation, further supporting environmentally friendly operations.
“The Amara is not only a technical masterpiece but also a true gem for our guests,” says Martina Lüftner, founder and managing director of Lüftner Cruises. The elegant interior design and an indoor pool at the stern will be among the new comfort highlights. Twelve spacious suites feature walk-out balconies and cozy reading nooks, while the 70 standard cabins mostly offer drop-down panoramic windows and luxurious bathrooms.
The maiden voyage of the AMADEUS Amara is scheduled for early July 2025.
