Admittedly, with just 104 kilometer of navigable waters, the Saar isn’t one of Europe’s longest waterways – but it is undoubtedly one of the most magnificent! What it lacks in length, it more than makes up for in location and scenery. Have you always longed to pay a visit to the river at the border triangle between Germany, France and Luxembourg and experience the magic along the Moselle? Then join us on our “Saar and Moselle Fairytales“ tour.

The most beautiful destinations along the Saar

Set sail with us for unforgettable moments caught between myth, magic and modernity on a river cruise through the magically romantic river valleys of the Saar. The extraordinary cruise include cruising to the famous Great Bend in the Saar as well as popular stops in Saarburg, Saarlouis and the Luxembourg town of Grevenmacher.

Saarburg, Germany

A stroll through Saarburg’s “Little Venice” with its many bridges and houses built on mighty oak piles adds an unmistakeable Italian flavour to your river cruise. Just when you think the trip can‘t get any more romantic, you’re greeted with a 20-metre waterfall cascading down from the upper part of the town. The lower-lying district of Staden was once home to fishermen and skippers. Church bells of up to 2,000 kilograms were also manufactured here from 1700 to 2002.

Saar Bend, Germany

A real wonder of nature awaits you when passing the 10 kilometer Saarschleife, also known as the Great Bend in the Saar. For millions of years, the river between Merzig and Mettlach has been carving out a gorge. Instead of continuing to flow straight ahead, the river takes a small detour and meanders in a beautiful arc through the Saarland.

Saarlouis, Germany

Discover that Saarlouis’ name isn’t its only French influence. Thanks to its proximity to the border, the town named after the “Sun King” Louis XIV has a certain savoir-vivre. For anyone with a sweet tooth, our Saarlouis chocolate tasting is not to be missed!

Trip to Luxembourg

Luxembourg always shows its lively, cosmopolitan and relaxed side. A UNESCO World Heritage Site to touch, culture to enjoy and an international financial metropolis are just some of the features of this green capital.

Trier, Germany

Trier, Germany's oldest city, takes you back thousands of years. On a tour through the Roman era, you will also get to know the Porta Nigra and the Dreikönigshaus.
